From the time she was old enough to toddle into the kitchen, Krista Alm began preparing fresh grown food on her family’s Indiana farm and racking up 4-H ribbons and awards for her skills in cooking, baking, and food preservation. She earned a degree in Family and Consumer Science Education from Purdue University in 2000 and for the next 7 years, enjoyed teaching high school Family and Consumer Science classes including Introduction to Foods, Advanced Foods and Nutrition, and Baking. In 2007, Krista took a break from the classroom when her husband accepted a job in Atlanta, Georgia and the family moved to the South. During her time in Atlanta, she focused on her growing family, learning new cooking techniques, Southern food, and teaching friends and neighbors about meal planning. When her husband’s job was transferred to Cleveland in 2009, the family settled in Strongsville and Krista created the popular meal planning and cooking blog, Krista’s Kitchen (www.kristaskitchen.com) which features weekly meal plans, grocery lists, and over 500 delicious step-by-step recipes. She also teaches evening cooking classes for Polaris Adult Education and is a Pampered Chef consultant. As a busy mother of two young daughters, Krista recognizes the demands of balancing work and family life and is passionate about helping other families to sit down together for good, healthy, home-cooked meals.
