Golden Stars Driving School

Golden Stars Driving School gives new drivers the knowledge and experience they need to earn their licenses. PotentialMore students must complete an online course before signing up for classroom study and at least six hours of behind-the-wheel training. Both classroom and in-car sessions last two hours. Instructors pick up and drop off students from the driving lessons. Golden Stars teaches many Burlingame High School students, as well as some students from the surrounding area.

This branch of the small, independent bookselling chain Books Inc. carries somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 bookMore titles, as well as 200 magazine titles. It is highly involved with the community. For example, it keeps in stock the summer reading list for Burlingame High School. It also lets kids come in and read their work there at the culmination of a local young writers' summer camp.  Manager Earle Peterson helps keep its fiction and children's sections especially well-stocked. The store sells a number of children's toys in addition to books. Some past author events have included readings by Amy Bloom and essaysist Phyllis Thoreau.
