This can not be serious....is it a late April fools joke? Obama's new budget has a one trillionRead More dollar deficit.. and his cronies want to make public appearances to give us guidance... LOL

Congratulations to those local runners who participated in this historic race. The country's heartRead More was with all of you on Monday.

Palomar, Well said comment! There should have been an early pass-interference call on the 49ers asRead More well. If the refs had been making calls in the early game, players would have had to play by the rules throughout. Instead they let there be numerous late whistles and late hits (where one guy had the runner stopped with a tackle and then other guys were allowed to hit him--very physically dangerous and with game-changing possibilities of injuries and fumbles) and also over aggressive shoving/fighting after the point (mostly started by the Ravens). I thought the officiating was poor and changed the nature of the game. Wasn't this almost the fewest penalty calls that these teams have EVER had? (I'd like to hear those statistics.) Did these teams change that much from their previous season play that they now weren't doing penalties? I doubt it.

The game was very entertaining for fans of both teams. That is why you watch. The 49ers played likeRead More a young team. Flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity. The non-calls by the refs changed the ebb and flow. Their performance was pathetic and that is supposed to be the 'best' ref crew the NFL has to offer. Bad calls and non-calls never even out. I expect to see the game played by the rules. I am not sure what the ultimate outcome would have been if it was properly officiated but it most definitely would not have been the same game I watched. What a disgraceful display by the NFL on their biggest stage.

It's is VERY hard to get into the Super Bowl in the first place. So the idea that the 49ers areRead More going to definitely get back there next year is wishful thinking at this point. It's unlikely, but I hope they do!

Actually, Trisha, you are wrong about the title. This article is posted on multiple Patch pages. I'mRead More looking at it under the Banning-Beaumont Patch. I also assume that when Peter posted, the article DID have a channel #, which was removed after his post. It wasn't rude, it was simply pointing out a discrepancy in the article, which was then corrected. Thanks, Peter, for pointing that out to the editors.

I re read the above article and didn't see a channel number. All I saw was CBS. Don't know whereRead More you live but the title of this page is called "Diamond Bar-Walnut" Patch and here CBS is located on Channel 2. You were rude to the editor!

@Barb Valley And now we all know regularly I watch 49ers games. lol So that's why they call himRead More that. I thought the monicker had something to do with the prospectors having poor hygiene standards that lead to pungent breath.
Barb Valley February 1, 2013 at 10:28 pm
Vanessa, You broke the code! Here in California Boudin is pronounced bo-deen. And here's aRead More SuperBowl tie-in: During the Gold Rush sourdough bread was so common that “Sourdough” became a nickname for the gold prospectors. When the SF 49ers run onto the field Sunday they’ll be led by their Mascot, Sourdough Sam. .

When I see Major League Baseball, the NFL, the AFL, the NBA, the NHL and the NCAA publish andRead More enforce a real drug policy, I will believe someone has become serious about this issue. In the meantime I see a lot of posturing and worthless statements but little to no action. If we want to see our kids idolize people who use and condone the use of drugs, that is what we have now. It’s a sad commentary on what we have grown to accept.

PJM, this is a free enterprise system and as far as I know, no US laws have been broken. The realRead More issue here is as I and now others have mentioned, want the youth of our country following the lead of these players who have chosen to play outside the lines of the game. I only use the NFL seemed like and I still think it is as did MLB in the recent HOF voting results begin setting the bar for future players. I do not care if one has more legal liability than the other. One good example might be the labeling of cigarette packaging with the warning health labels..... now do you see, it really doesn't matter how it happens, just as the Surgeon General's warning is to try to prevent smoking and inherent damage that may occur, but it also in a sense allows the tobacco companies some if very limited liability from Suites of the legal variety. It's all good in my book, but not the use of Steroids in MLB!

I envy you Carole. I just returned from visiting my newly relocated daughter and her family fromRead More Stanford U to Pasadena where her husband took a job. I got caught up in all the Rose preparations around town. We drove out to the bowl and also see the tents with a good many of the floats in preparation. We left Pasadena and so I could not stay for the parade but my daughter attended with her family and my son in law attended the game and got to see his School take the trophy. It was quite a big deal.
