Does Usain Bolt Excessively Showboat?

The gold medal winner is known for his signature “lightning bolt” stretch after winning races.

It’s no surprise that Olympians receive a rush of adrenaline from fans’ adoration and deafening cheers from the crowd. But Usain Bolt thrives on the roars from the stands.

After his 100m gold medal win and breaking his own world record on Monday, Bolt did a series of moves: he unfurled his signature “lightning bolt” stretch, ran around the stadium and even did a little dance after hugging fellow Jamaican and silver medalist, Yohan Blake.

However, this celebration began after he crossed the line, as opposed to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing when he pre-celebrated before officially finishing the race.

The elation is a feeling most people will never be able to relate to, but are his antics a bit much? Or does he deserve to celebrate however he pleases after achieving such an impressive physical feat?

Let us know in the comments.

Does no one remember Muhammad Ali or the men's 4x400 relay team in Sydney who stripped half of their uniforms off and flexed while running around the track?

you're right. totally obnoxious. he's so obnoxious that he stopped an TV interview while the US national anthem was playing for another athlete while they received their gold medal. yup, you got him pegged real good there.

This guy belongs in the NFL with other patients suffering from "wide receiver syndrome".

Bolt destroys people and their souls, hence he is entitled to flex now and then. To the haters, "u jelly bro?"

The guy is simply awesome and the showboating is just part of his marketing campaign - he certainly is getting attention and that is what marketing is all about. The other men running track are lucky he decided to limit his races to 200m and less - probabaly could win the 400m and 800m if he put his mind to it. I wonder how far he can go in the long jump also. The ideal race would be the 400m with Bolt and Juanterena (el caballo de Cuba), when Juanterena was in his prime.
