Relay For Life of Burlingame (Community)

Looking for a way to get involved in your local community? Come to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life! Signing up for a team online is fast and easy! Create a team, raise funds to fight cancer and come to the Relay for a day and night of family friendly fun!

What is Relay For Life?

Relay For Life is an overnight community gathering that gives everyone an opportunity to fight cancer and help save lives. Teams camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a
track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the overnight event and to raise a minimum of $100 each. At Relay For Life, you will celebrate survivors,
remember loved ones lost to the disease, and learn more about how to fight back against cancer. While you’re raising much-needed funds, you’ll also be raising
awareness of the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and patient support. No matter who you are, you can help and there’s a place for you at Relay.

Celebrate

All cancer survivors (anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis) are invited to join us as honored guests in the Survivors Lap, which opens every Relay For Life event. Their strength and courage help the community celebrate
the fact that we are making progress in the fight against cancer.

Remember

When the sun goes down, hundreds of Luminaria light the track in remembrance of those who have faced cancer - those we’ve lost, those still fighting and those who have fought cancer and won. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight, and helps us remember why we Relay.

Fight Back

Every dollar you collect, every person you tell, and every step you take helps in the fight against cancer. At Relay, there are other opportunities to fight back too ...  opportunities to learn about cancer prevention, pledge to
get healthy or quit smoking, share your story with your legislators, and get involved as a volunteer. Take this chance to make a difference!

Burlingame (Community) Event

This year, Washington Park will be filled with music and entertainment while dedicated members of the community walk the track to create a future where no one ever has to hear the words "You have cancer." We will have refreshments, live demonstrations and entertainment, as well as information on how you can fight back against cancer!

Please contact Julie Pierce at (650) 207-9905 or julie.pierce@cancer.org for day of event volunteer opportunities, available volunteer committee positions and event participation information.
