Event Reminder: Labor Day Spirit Run

Don't forget about the BCE-sponsored Spirit Run Monday.

It's almost time. This Labor Day marks the first-ever Burlingame community Spirit Run benefitting the Burlingame Community for Education Foundation (BCE).

The non-profit, volunteer-run BCE raises funds for the , providing enhanced and well-rounded education for local students.

“We see the Burlingame Spirit Run as the perfect activity to raise funds to support our grant allocations,” said Jennifer Slaboda, BCE President. “Proceeds from the run/walk will support smaller classrooms sizes in addition to PE, music, and science instruction for all five of our elementary schools along with our middle school.”

On Monday, September 3 beginning at 8 a.m., residents are invited to take on the 5K or 10K run through Burlingame. Runners, walkers and volunteers are all welcome.

The run starts and ends at , with the route making a loop runners either take once or twice.

In addition to the 5K and 10K, the event features a Wellness Expo sponsored by the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Mills-Peninsula Division. Nutrition, health and fitness will participate in the expo, taking about healthy lifestyle advice and demonstrating exercises.

The registration fee is $30 for those 14 and older and  $20 for those ages 5 through 13. The race is free for those 4 and under.

Registration comes with a t-shirt, bib, post-race refreshments, and entry to the Wellness Expo.

Even those who don’t want to run can be “virtual runners,” donating $20 on active.com and receiving a t-shirt.
