Burlingame Library Celebrates Poetry

Poetry Month is underway at the Burlingame Public Library and library staff want you to get involved.

It's January and that means one thing at the : Poetry Month. This year's theme is Poet-Tree Down Under, and library staff are hoping a lot of local children in kindergarten through fifth grade join the celebration.

These children are encouraged to compose an original poem and bring it to either the Main Library of any time before Jan. 31. Upon delivering their poem, children receive a free book of poetry.

Library staff decided to add a little fun to Poetry Month by creating a contest. The school with the highest per capita poem-writing participation will win the large Library Kangaroo for its library.
