Burlingame HS Makes Top 100 State Ranking

The prestigious ranking from a US News and World Report survey places Burlingame at the top of the class locally.

Two north Peninsula schools are among the Top 100 Best High Schools in California for 2012 as announced this week by US News and World Report magazine.

Burlingame and Millbrae both had schools in the top 100. Schools in South San Francisco and San Bruno are struggling, by comparison.

The clear winner in the Bay Area was Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz, listed as the best high school in California. Pacific just missed finishing in the top 10 nationally of Best High Schools, ranked number eleven.

A three-step process determines the news magazine's Best High Schools ranking. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.
