The San Mateo Union High School District Board of Trustees will be holding a study session this month to further discuss a proposal to relocate Peninsula High.
According to the San Mateo Union High School District website, board members will be talking about its options for moving Peninsula High, the district's continuation school, from its current location on the former Crestmoor High School campus in San Bruno.
Since San Mateo County voters in 2010 passed Measure O—the $186 million bond measure that will pay off district debt, fund classroom projects and finance a new continuation school to replace the high school district's continuation school—Superintendent Scott Laurence has been working on finding a more suitable location for Peninsula High.
Laurence has told groups that moving the school would be more cost-effective for the district because more than half of the students live in San Mateo, the San Mateo Daily Journal reported.
Concerns have already been raised about relocating the school to either San Mateo High's or Hillsdale High's campuses.
But not everyone feels the same way.
The Board of Trustees are also looking at alternative sites for the district office, currently located on the San Mateo High School campus on North Delaware Street in San Mateo. That topic is also expected to be addressed at the study session.
The study session will take place at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Adult School, 789 E. Poplar Ave., in San Mateo The meeting will be open to the public.
