New ECR Bus Route to be Christened Today

The new service replaces Routes 390 and 391 along SamTrans' "backbone," El Camino real.

San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom will have the honors of officially changing the change the headsign on a SamTrans bus Friday morning, commemorating the launch of the transit agency's new service along the El Camino Real route. The new route is known as "ECR."

SamTrans will gather with community partners to celebrate the successful launch of the new ECR service earlier this week. Route ECR began operation on Aug. 12 and according to SamTrans officials has already demonstrated improved service consistency and reliability along the El Camino Real corridor.  The ECR operates every 15 minutes between Daly City and Palo Alto.

ECR is the first major service change SamTrans has undertaken in the past decade.  The new service replaces Routes 390 and 391 along SamTrans' "backbone," El Camino real.  ECR began weekend operation as a pilot project last year and has proven to be successful.  The change is the first to be implemented as the result of the agency's SamTrans Service Plan (SSP), a comprehensive assessment of all bus service intended to grow new ridership.
