Nagel Reaches $100,000 Mark in Supervisor Campaign

Burlingame Mayor Terry Nagel has raised more than $100,000 in contributions for her campaign for San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.

Burlingame Mayor Terry Nagel has surpassed $100,000 in fundraising in her campaign for San Mateo County Supervisor. Her latest figures show contributions of more than $143,000 in the special election being held to fill the seat of Supervisor Mark Church.

“I am humbled by the breadth of support for my candidacy,” Nagel said in a press release. “A total of 344 individuals have contributed to my campaign since I announced my candidacy last fall.”

Nagel raised $34,500.50 between January 1 and March 19, the most recent reporting period.  She plans to focus her contribution money,  $78,541 of which she has on hand in cash, on communication with voters.

“I am well positioned heading into the April voting period,” Nagel said. “I have enough cash on hand to effectively communicated with voters, and I am on track to raise, and possibly surpass, the budget I have set for this campaign. At this point, all money raised is going directly into voter communication.”

Nagel’s donations include monetary and in-kind contributions, as well as a loan from Nagel. Her average supporter contribution is $200, although 118 supporters have contributed less than $100.

Ballots for the vote-by-mail election will be mailed out in early April and are due May 3.  The election will fill the seat of Mark Church, who became San Mateo assessor-clerk-recorder in January.

Other candidates include San Mateo Union High School District Board Trustee Dave Pine, Millbrae City Council Member Gina Papan, San Mateo County Community College District Trustee Richard Holober, Michael Stogner and Demetrios Nikas.
