Last Day For Appealing Tree Removal

Monday is the last day residents can appeal the removal of a eucalyptus tree on El Camino Real.

Monday marks the final day Burlingame residents can submit appeals against the removal of a City-owned eucalyptus tree.

At a September 1 meeting, the Burlingame Beautification Commission held a public hearing regarding the removal of the tree.

The tree is located on El Camino Real behind a rental unit at 1534-A Ablemarle Way. The 90-foot-tall tree has caused damage to the foundation and walls of the building. The roof has also caused roof damage.

“It’s the most beautiful tree in that stretch of trees,” said Commissioner Anne Hinckle. However, the commissioners agreed they had to take responsibility for the city-owned tree causing damage to a private residence and decided on removing the tree.

Letters of appeal, accompanied by a $255 fee, can be delivered to the Parks & Recreation Department. For more information, click here.
