Incumbents Win Council Seats

Nagel and Deal won reelection Tuesday night.

Incumbents prevailed in Tuesday night’s City Council election, as Mayor Terry Nagel and Vice Mayor Jerry Deal beat out Ricardo Ortiz and maintained their seats on the Burlingame City Council.

Nagel takes on her third term while Deal begins his second.

“I’m…delighted to be able to serve the citizens for another four years,” Nagel said. “We’ve done a lot of wonderful things and we have a lot of good ideas in store.”

In a race revolving around economic development and unfunded pension liabilities, voters put their faith in the current council to continue leading the City in the right direction.

Deal received 36.74 percent of the votes, Nagel received 35.48 percent and newcomer Ricardo Ortiz earned 27.78 percent in unoffical results. Ortiz ran on a platform of financial responsibility.
