DA’s Office to Decide Charges in Pedestrian’s Death

The woman, in her 60's, was hit by an SUV in a Burlingame crosswalk.

 

The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office will decide what, if any, charges will be filed against a teen who hit two women who were in a crosswalk. One of the women later died.

They were crossing Hillside Drive at El Camino Real at 5:50 p.m. last Tuesday, April 16, when the crash occurred. An 18-year-old driver hit the women while making a left-hand turn. The victims are a 63-year-old woman from Burlingame and a 62-year-old woman from Belmont.

Patch is awaiting confirmation from the coroner’s office before releasing the name of the woman who passed away.

Burlingame Police are completing their investigation and forwarding the information to the DA’s office. Police Sgt. Don Shepley said the case was “just tragic. The driver waited for oncoming traffic and then turned left, hitting the women.”
