Burlingame Honors Commissioner Stan Vistica

The City Council will honor the long-time planning commissioner Monday.

The Burlingame City Council will honor Stan Vistica, a long-time voice in residential design, commercial development and a greener Burlingame, at its meeting Monday night. As a Planning Commission member since 1998, he is the longest serving current Burlingame commissioner.

Vistica has played an instrumental role in the development of many major projects during his tenure as a commissioner, such as the new Safeway and the Mills Peninsula Medical Center. He has been an integral part of many commercial developments and has worked towards improved economic vitality in Burlingame.

“He has a tremendous record of service both to the community and to the city,” said Mayor Terry Nagel. “His service on the Planning Commission has been exemplary.”

Vistica is a major force on all of the large projects currently under development and served on the Citizen Advisory Committee responsible for drafting the Downtown Specific Plan, as well as the subcommittees that drafted the Commercial Design Guidebook and Residential Design Guidelines.

Vistica also has his hand in making Burlingame greener. He was a founding member of Burlingame’s Green Ribbon Task Force, which wrote the Climate Action Plan adopted by the city in 2009. He helped create the Citizens Environmental Council and has been involved with the Drive Less Challenge, a green speaker series and Burlingame’s Green Street Fairs.
