'All I Need is Your Bank Account Number'

Learn how to avoid scam artists and and telemarketing fraud at a workshop hosted by Assemblymember Jerry Hill.

In June of this year, after a a caller victimized a Burlingame resident by posing as a member of the police department over the phone and asking for a donation.

Furthermore, Burlingame police frequently receive calls from residents reporting getting calls from people claiming to be grandsons or other family members in need of money.

On Friday at 10 a.m., Assemblymember Jerry Hill and representatives from Seniors Against Fraud (SAIF), will present the annual senior fraud prevention workshop at , helping residents learn what to do when these callers make contact.

The free workshop will teach seniors how to protect themselves against scam artists who commit investment and telemarketing fraud crimes. Participants of all ages are welcome.

Why does information about important events such as scams and fraud prevention come out so late? I would have liked to attend, but did NOT find out about the talk until AFTER it had started!

Hi Pam--I'm sorry to hear that! You can always click on the "Events" tab at the top of the page to find out what's going on in Burlingame and nearby towns in the days and weeks to come.
