Police Monday asked for the public's help in finding a suspicious person accused of videotaping and stalking a 20-year-old woman in San Mateo last week.

The incident occurred at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at a business in the 1700 block of South Delaware Street, according to San Mateo police.

Police said the suspect-- who is described as an Asian man between 19 and 25 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes-- followed and videotaped the victim, then exited the store and stood by the victim's car.

When she started to walk to the car, the suspect walked away.
"The victim then approached her vehicle and smelled a strong, unpleasant odor emitting from the interior of her vehicle," police reported.  "The victim saw an unknown oily liquid on her driver seat and center console."
Police didn't say what that liquid actually was.

Officers responded to search for the suspect but could not find him. San Mateo police Monday released a sketch of the man and are asking the public for help in identifying him.

Investigators are also looking into whether the suspect was involved in similar incidents previously. Anyone with any information about the case can contact Detective A. Von Glahn at (650) 522-7665.
