Fire Erupts in SFO-Bound Marin Airporter Bus Engine

The seven passengers, none whom were injured, were transferred to another bus.

The engine of a Marin Airporter bus caught fire on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Rodeo Avenue exit ramp in Sausalito this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The seven passengers on board were placed on another bus to San Francisco International Airport, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

The fire, which occurred around 11:15 a.m., was confined to the bus's engine compartment, but some smoke entered the cabin of the bus, Barclay said.

No passengers were injured or complained of smoke inhalation, Barclay said.

The two far right lanes of southbound Highway 101 were expected to remain closed until about 1 p.m., while Caltrans crews clean up engine oil that spilled on the roadway, Barclay said.
