Police: San Mateo Man Breaks Into Hillsborough Car, Uses Garage Opener to Access House

The brazen burglary happened Monday morning, police said.

A San Mateo man was arrested this week on suspicion of breaking into a Hillsborough vehicle and home, according to police.

Police received a report of a residential burglary early Monday morning and discovered belongings had been stolen from a vehicle parked in the resident's driveway.

"In addition, the suspect was able to use the garage door opener from the vehicle to gain access to the garage, and ultimately the first floor of the residence," police said in a statement.  "The suspect entered the residence and burglarized the first floor.

An investigation of the burglary quickly led police to a suspect in San Mateo. A search warrant was executed at a residence on Fallon Avenue in San Mateo at about noon Monday, police said.

Members of the Hillsborough and San Mateo police departments worked together to locate and arrest the suspect, identified as Isaias Hernandez-- who was allegedly found with some of the stolen goods.

"Stolen property belonging to the Hillsborough resident was recovered at the time of the arrest," police said.
