Hillsborough PD Issues Distraction Burglary Alert

Police are asking residents in the area who may have surveillance footage of Sheldon Way, Fagan Drive, or Armsby Drive, to review their video and contact them.

The Hillsborough Police Department is investigating a distraction burglary that occurred at about noon Wednesday at a home  in the area of Sheldon Way and Fagan Drive.

According to Sgt. Nelson Cordeway of the Hillsborough Police Dept., the suspect knocked on the front door and told the resident that he was with the water department and needed to check inside of the residence for broken pipes.

While inside of the home, police say the suspect instructed the resident to go into different rooms to turn on and off the water. While the resident was distracted, the suspect stole items from within the home. The suspect eventually left the home after telling the victim that he would go to Home Depot to buy some parts.

The suspect is described as a clean shaven white male adult in his early 40’s, approximately 6’2” and 220 pounds.  The suspect was wearing a blue long sleeve t-shirt and wore tennis style or running shoes.
