Eucalyptus Falls, Traffic Diverted, on California Drive

An alert was issued by the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services at 7:08 p.m.

A large Eucalyptus tree fell Sunday in Burlingame, prompting authorities to divert all traffic on California Drive -- between Majilla Avenue and Palm Drive -- until crews could remove it.

An alert was issued by the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services at 7:08 p.m.

However, road crews started working to remove the tree about 6:45 p.m., officials said.

They were expected to take about two hours to get it off the road, where it spanned California Avenue, officials said.

It was unclear what brought the tree down.
