Burlingame ATM Robbery Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

The robbery occurred at a Wells Fargo ATM on Broadway.

The Burlingame man with his arrest in Hillsborough pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Daniel Thomas Cassidy, 24, is accused on approaching a victim at a Wells Fargo ATM on Broadway and demanding she withdraw $100 while brandishing a knife. After he received the money, he reportedly entered a nearby pick-up truck and drove away.

According to the Burlingame Police Department, an officer pursued, but Cassidy continued driving, crashing into a car and causing minor injuries to its occupant. He continued driving into Hillsborough, where his car caught in vegetation when he swerved off the road.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Cassidy attempted fleeing on foot, and police shot two Taser shots at him--which failed to work—before struggling with and cuffing the suspect.

The District Attorney’s Office said during the struggle Cassidy cut himself in several places with the knife and was transported to the hospital before county jail.

He is in custody on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing will take place September 27 at 9 a.m.
