Burlingame Armed Robbery Ends in Arrest

A woman was robbed at an ATM on Broadway in Burlingame.

An armed man robbed a woman using an ATM on Broadway in Burlingame Tuesday. According to the Burlingame Police Department, the woman was at the Wells Fargo at 1145 Broadway at about 8:53 p.m. when a man in possession of a large knife approached her.

The man demanded the woman withdraw money. She took out the cash, and the man fled upon receipt. The woman called police, alerting them to his description and what direction he left in.

A Burlingame police officer found the subject as he was entering a pick-up truck parked near the bank. The subject drove away with police pursuing. After a short pursuit, he crashed near the Burlingame and Hillsborough border into an occupied car and vegetation.

The subject got out of his car and began running, but was stopped in front of a house on the 2000 block of Forest View Avenue.

The man was identified as 24-year-old Burlingame resident Daniel Thomas Cassidy.

According to the police department, Cassidy was charged with robbery, hit and run, evading police and resisting arrest.

The victim was not injured, although the woman in the vehicle hit by the suspect had minor injuries.
