Last week, the Burlingame Parks and Recreation Commission released the results of a survey regarding dog off-leash hours in Burlingame parks.
This survey of residents was part of a study commissioned by Burlingame City Council to gather information on the opinion of residents concerning off-leash hours for dogs in Burlingame parks.
About 2,000 surveys were distributed in Washington Park and approximately 150 surveys were completed.

Sixty-two percent of all survey participants were in favor of extending off-leash hours to include a designated area between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Currently, off-leash hours are between 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in designated areas of Washington Park and Cuernavaca Park. The City of Burlingame also has a dog exercise park on Airport Boulevard, which is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The survey participants were split between dog owners (48 percent) and those who do not own dogs (52 percent).
