Artistic Innovators Use Crowd Funding
to Make their Dreams a Reality
Burlingame, CA April 3, 2013:
An aspiring writer wanting to publish a comic book turned to the popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter last week to raise funds to cover printing costs and produce future issues. He needed just $500. But instead of meeting the $500 goal, his project raised over $1,300 in the first 5 days – a clear sign that crowd funding sites like Kickstarter.com is the way to go for artists seeking to bypass the hassles of publishing companies.
Michael Dismuke is the writer of Roshambo, a comic about three children gifted with super powers based on the game called rock-paper-scissors. Though $1,300 might not make Michael a contender versus publishing giants like Marvel Comics, avenues like Kickstarter are a great way to start generating buzz if you are the little guy.

“I was very nervous about placing my work on a crowd funding platform,” the 37-year old leadership trainer wrote. “But my confidence in my art form grew when I met my funding goals in one day. I encourage all artists to explore crowd funding as a way to reach people looking for new creators to support.”
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects like art exhibits, independent films, books, and new technology. Creators keep 100% ownership of their work. Backers are supporting projects to help them come to life, not to profit financially. Instead, project creators offer rewards to thank backers for their support.
