Burlingame Halloween Tradition Celebrates 33 Years

"It's ridiculously cute."

Grab the kids, and get ready for one of the only scare-free Halloween events on the Peninsula. The St. Paul’s Nursery School Halloween Fun Faire, now in its 33rd year, is back in Burlingame.

"It's quite the tradition," said Publicity Chair Jacquie Haggarty. “My favorite part is seeing the kids and seeing their reactions and just how it’s truly a magical place for them."

The Halloween Fun Faire, run by parents and teachers, serves as the largest fundraiser for the co-op nursery school.

It caters to toddlers and preschool children, offering traditional faire activities, such as crafts, cookie decorating, story time, games and train rides.

“It’s a really traditional experience,” said Haggarty. “It’s one of the few activities on the Peninsula, other than going over to Half Moon Bay, that you have this center of activity for kids.”

For the adults in the crowd, which annually reaches about 1,000 attendees, there is a Silent Auction. Gift certificates to restaurants, hotels, Disneyland Park Hopper passes, event tickets and more are all up for grabs.

“Our business community and families really support in donating items to the action,” Haggarty said.

The free faire is open to the community, and punch cards for activities and food are sold at the door.

The Halloween Fun Faire takes place Friday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 20 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Nursery School at 405 El Camino Real.
