Intersession Shakespeare Camp

Kids (ages 7-13) get into the act at Intersession Shakespeare Camp being held at Burlingame United Methodist Church, 1443 Howard Ave. The
camp meets October 14-25, Mon-Fri, from 9am-3pm, with optional aftercare until 5:30.

Intersession Shakespeare Camp is presented by the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and replicates their wildly popular summer sessions that began in 1993. The Camp is scheduled to coincide with the intersession break of students on a year-round academic calendar but home-schoolers or anybody whose schedule permits is welcome to attend!

Campers learn all about the world of performance from trained theater professionals in a fun and creative environment. The outstanding teaching artists at this session will be Sarah David and Anika Solveig. Both are veteran Shakespeare Camp teaching artists with  extensive experience
acting, directing and teaching dramatic arts.

Campers stage a show for family and friends on the final day of the session, followed by a celebratory cast party. At this session, campers will stage productions of 'Hamlet' and 'The Mousetrap'. ('The Mousetrap' is the play-within-a-play that  Hamlet refers to when saying, “The play’s the
thing wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the King.”)

Experience is welcome but not required! Those with prior experience will hone and develop their performance skills; newcomers will enjoy the thrill of their first performance!

Shakespeare camp provides training in:

  • Shakespeare’s rich language
  • Acting and improvisation
  • Voice and movement technique
  • Stage combat
  • Set and costume design and more!
