BURLINGAME PARKS
& RECREATION PRESENTS THE SUMMER MUSICAL PRODUCTION OF BYE BYE BIRDIE.

Burlingame
Parks & Recreation’s summer musical camp is delighted to present yet
another entertaining musical production for the whole family. BYE
BYE BIRDIE
will be performed July 25th, 7PM and July 26th,
1PM at Burlingame Intermediate School auditorium, 1715 Quesada Way,
Burlingame.  This production is free and open
to the public of all ages – no tickets are necessary.

The
musical tells the story of a rock and roll singer
who is about to be inducted into the army. The singer, Conrad Birdie, an Elvis
Presley type, has a pompadour and thick sideburns; he wears gaudy gold costumes
and speaks in a rugged voice. His agent, Albert (Agustin Ortiz) is upset that
Conrad has been inducted.  His secretary,
Rosie Alvarez (Kate Linenbach) has come up with a creative suggestion. Conrad
(Skyler Mallow) will bid a typical American teen-age girl goodbye with an
all-American kiss. Kim MacAfee (Laurel Brown) in Sweet Apple, Ohio wins the
honor. All of the phones in her town are already busy during The Telephone
Hour
as Kim has just been pinned to Hugo (Matthew Silverman), a local boy.
She is a pretty girl of fifteen and sings with springlike ardor How Lovely
to Be a Woman
. An English Teacher, What Did I Ever See in Him, Put on a
Happy Face, One Boy, A Lot of Livin' to Do, Kids, Rosie
. are musical theater
classics. This is the top in imagination and good old fashion fun.
