Week Ahead: Spelling Bee and Spaghetti Feed

Take a look ahead at what's going on in Burlingame this week.

What's on tap for this week? Keep an eye out for these events and stories this week. We'll be there to cover them.

  • The Burlingame Elementary School District Board of Trustees meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the district administration office. The board will hold a public hearing on the initial bargaining proposals of BSD and the Burlingame Education Association and hear a presentation on a new bond measure. 
  • The Burlingame Youth Advisory Committee is holding a Spaghetti Feed Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Burlingame Recreation Center benefitting the Burlingame Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship and My New Red Shoes.
  • The Burlingame Lions Club is hosting its third annual spelling bee at 4 p.m. in the Lions Club Hall Wednesday. The spelling bee features the best fourth and fifth grade spellers from seven Burlingame schools.
  • On Wednesday at 7 p.m., there will be a museum docent lecture on the Cult of Beauty: The Victorian Avant-Garde, 1860-1900. The lecture takes place in the Lane Community Room.
  • The Beautification Commission meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room A in City Hall.
  • On Thursday, Lonely Planet author Alison Bing discusses traveling in Italy during a lecture in the Lane Community Room at 7 p.m.
  • The City Council and Planning Commission will hold a joint meeting on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Lane Community Room.
  • On Sunday, Burlingame High School is hosting its annual Taste of the Town event at the San Francisco Airport Marriot. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
