Week Ahead: School Board To Adopt Budget

  • The Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 replacement project continues along El Camino Real near Adeline Drive and Dufferin Avenue. These two access pits sit in the southbound lane closest to the sidewalk, causing lane closures.
  • The Planning Commission meets Monday at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
  • The City Council will conduct Library Board of Trustees interviews on Monday. The council is looking to fill two vacancies on the board.
  • The Burlingame School District Board of Trustees meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. A public hearing will be held on the adoption of the 2011-2012 budget, after which the board is expected to adopt the budget. 
  • On Wednesday, the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame presents the third installment of its green speaker series with "12 Months of Color in the California Native Garden." Arlie Middlebrook of Middlebrook Garden will explain how to create a colorful, sustainable garden while keeping maintenance costs down. The talk takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library.
  • The Parks and Recreation Commission meets Thursday at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The sub committee of Dogs of Leash in public parks will provide its final report.
  • On Saturday, the Central County Fire Department will hold its seventh annual Pancake Breakfast. The $5 breakfast, which includes live music and entertainment, benefits the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
  • The Mills Creek Bug Hike takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mills Canyon. Kids ages pre-K through 9 will hike to the stream while catching bugs and learning about insects and the environment.
