The suspect fled when he realized he had been spotted.

A Hillsborough resident interrupted a man trying to break into her home on Summit Drive Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The resident was inside her home on the 2500 block of Summit Drive around 3:30 p.m. when she heard the doors leading to her backyard start shaking, according to police. When she went to check, she saw a man trying to break in.

The suspect fled when he realized he had been spotted, and the resident saw a newer four-door sedan in front of the house driving westbound a short time later. It is unclear if the sedan and the suspect are connected, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s with short dark hair, facial hair and a thin build, around 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing a white mesh t-shirt with the letter BWIN in purple with purple on the sleeves, faded blue jeans and brown boots.

Anyone who saw this suspect or vehicle is asked to call Hillsborough police at (650) 375-7470.
