$8K in Rebates Available for Homeowners Who Improve Energy Efficiency

San Mateo County program doubles amount of standard rebate until March 2012.

Along with representatives from Energy Upgrade California, Solar City, and PG&E, San Mateo County Supervisor  will announce a new program this morning that will double the rebate county homeowners can receive for making their home more energy efficient.

Homeowners are currently eligible to receive a $4,000 rebate for making energy-efficient repairs to their home as part of the Energy Upgrade California program.

San Mateo County's program has upped the amount to $8,000, thanks to stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which will provide the match.

“San Mateo County’s new Energy Upgrade program provides residents with a unique opportunity to both reduce their carbon footprint and lower their energy bills,” said County Supervisor Dave Pine.

According to Energy Upgrade California, an upgrade can also make one's home more comfortable throughout the year, as well as improve air quality.
