POLL: What Does Millbrae's Safeway Construction Mean for Burlingame?

Will Burlingame's brand new Safeway get overcrowded while Millbrae's undergoes construction?

Workers recently broke ground on the renovation of the Safeway in Millbrae. The 50-year-old store at 525 El Camino Real is undergoing a face lift that Safeway says will make it a greener grocer with an expanded workforce that offers customers greater shopping variety and more parking.

The new store will expand its workforce and promises ample parking.

In the meantime, however, how will this renovation impact Burlingame? Do you anticipate a higher volume of shoppers and longer lines at the City's Safeway?

On a trip there today parking was very difficult. The store is very dark, especially the produce area. Is this to hide poor quality?

No it's Safeways new thing. They are eventually going to re-do every store to be a "life concept" store. It's in my eyes to be more upscale looking like all the hoity toity stores like dreagers (sp?) I like it better than the cheap fluorescent lighting .
