Hillsborough Women Honored by County Health Foundation

These women were honored for their contributions to breast health awareness and digital mammography.

The San Mateo County Health Foundation honored 20 community members and organizations, including three Hillsborough women, for their generosity and work in raising funds for breast health outreach and digital mammography Monday.

The honored donors were recognized at the San Mateo Medical Center for their contributions to The Underwire Project, an April, women-only event. More than 300 women gathered for dinner, cocktails and entertainment while raising awareness for an often overlooked medical facility and funds for bringing digital mammography to the San Mateo Medical Center.

The event, sponsored by the San Mateo County Health Foundation, raised more than $224,000: $218,000 for digital mammography and $6,000 for breast health outreach. The San Mateo Medical Center is the only Bay Area hospital without digital mammography.
