Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.

BAY AREA STUDENTS RECEIVE AN IMPORTANT HISTORY LESSON IN DISCRIMINATION WHILE PERFORMING A MUSICAL CLASSIC.

Burlingame Parks & Recreation Department’s Summer Musical Camp will perform Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. on July 29, 2011, 7PM and July 30, 1PM at Burlingame Intermediate School, 1715 Quesada Way, Burlingame.  Both performances are free and open to the public – no tickets required.

This three-week musical camp for ages 8-14 years old exposes the students not only to the skills of musical theatre, but to acting and choreography as well.  This year has been very special in examining the historical significance of Fiddler on the Roof – what was happening politically in Russia at the time of the play, the discrimination of the Jews through pogroms and the results of this discrimination that forewarned the upcoming Holocaust.  This concentration has been extremely important in preparing the students to perform this production.

Lauren Bodenlos is portraying “Golde”, “Tevye’s “daughters, Tzeital, Hodel, Chava, Sprintzle and Bielke are played respectively by Francesca Quilici, Olivia Klein, Kennedy Johnson, Sophia Azzollini and Renata Kirvenko.  Matthew Silverman is “Motel” and Julien Prevot is “Pertchik”.
