Burlingame Selects Five New Idols

Five singers took home the title of Burlingame Idol after the finals this weekend.

Fourteen finalists took to the stage Saturday night, singing through stiff competition for the title of Burlingame Idol. In Idol’s fourth year, the competition remained strong, but judges Lori Moitie, RJ Johnson and Nick Garratt completed their task of naming winners in each of five categories.

After five weeks of auditions, which began on March 26, the field was narrowed down to 14 finalists, ranging in age categories of 5-10 to 40 and older. Finalists spent the past couple of weeks preparing for the big show Saturday at the .

The night kicked off with a performance by Burlingame Glee. Members sang crowd-pleasers Lean on Me and Don’t Stop Believing.

5-10 Category: Raquel Weinstein, third grader at

11-14 Category: Mariana Cardenas, seventh grader at

15-18 Category: Jacqueline Aenlle, sophomore at

19-39 Category: Laura Mazza, attorney from San Mateo

40 and Older Category: Ted Fancher

All finalists will sing at Burlingame Artzfest on August 11 and 12.
