Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo/Redwood City) and San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier will host the 26th annual Seniors On The Move Conference on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the San Mateo County Event Center.
Over 500 seniors have preregistered for the event that will feature journalism greats Belva Davis and Michael Finney, a medical doctor, a high-tech philanthropist, an AARP representative who will talk about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, a Tai Chi session, music and a farmers market. Speier, Tissier and Assemblymember Kevin Mullin will also provide a legislative update. The theme of this year’s conference is “Live for today, plan for tomorrow.”
Speier stated, “For 26 years I have been honored to host over 500 seniors in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties at a conference that educates and entertains them. Planning for a secure and healthy future is important, but we have to watch out that the process doesn’t cause stress and anxiety. We need to make the time to be in the moment and live for today. We all need joy in our lives.”
Tissier stated, “It’s critical as we age to work to keep our minds alert, our bodies strong and healthy, and nurture our social networks. Seniors on the Move provides us with an opportunity each year to stay current on what is available to assist us in planning for our future in one entertaining and educational day.”
