Poll: Do You Vacation Here, or Elsewhere?

A few years ago, I was driving along the Pacific coastline, and noticed a bumper sticker on the car in front of me.

I Live Where You Vacation! shouted some script on a VW beetle bumper.

Sometimes, it occurs to me, we forget how lucky we are to live in an area with such gorgeous beauty. We have ebbs of the ocean just minutes to our west, snows on the Sierra not far to our east, magnificent and marvelous redwood trees in our surrounding forests.

Tourists come every day from thousands of miles away - and spend a lot of money doing so - to enjoy the things we have in our own backyard.

So we wondered; when you take a real vacation, do you take the trendy Staycation route, and hunt for hideaways right here in the Bay Area? Or do you hit the road, Jack, and seek sights seemingly superior in your mind?
