Introducing Boopsie....An App That's Like Having Your Own Personal Librarian

The San Mateo County Library's new mobile application simplifies just about everything library-related.

[Editor's Note: The following information was provided by Julie Finklang of the San Mateo County Library. If you have any announcements or news you'd like to have posted on Patch, please email me at joan.dentler@patch.com.]

The San Mateo County Library (SMCL) has announced the launch of its new mobile app, powered by Boopsie. The app is available for both smart phones and tablets.

The SMCL Mobile App is available to download at www.smcl.boopsie.com , or visit the app store for your particular device. With the SMCL app, customers are able to perform many of the same tasks they do online: search the catalog, place holds, renew materials and see a display of new books, movies and music. They can follow SMCL blogs, check out events and programs, locate SMCL branches and connect with library staff.

The new app is also designed to simplify access to the library’s collection of ebooks/eaudiobooks with easy download ability. Finally, the app features BookLook, which can be used to scan a book’s ISBN code to find out if the item is owned by SMCL.

It's not just you, it's all of us. I'll bet most of us have seen this happen all over town. PeopleRead More don't seem to be in the habit of checking for pedestrians, unless perhaps they're near a school. Drivers need to understand that they must watch, yield and wait. In large cities where there may be dozens of people in an intersection, drivers, for the most part, observe the law--there's safety in numbers. So when we're alone or in a small group, and find ourselves in a crosswalk around here, we all must remain alert and be ready to "jump out of the way" of some unobservant or inconsiderate driver.
