Burlingame Sudden Oak Death Testing Event
Cal forest pathology professor Matteo Garbelotto, who is the preeminent expert on the subject of Sudden Oak Death (SOD), will teach us to identify symptoms, to collect leaf samples in our community, and to use a GPS device to determine the precise locations of them.
All are welcome--bring your children, bring your parents, and bring your friends for this fun educational experience!
All sampling materials, including a GPS device, will be provided. The samples will be analyzed by the professor’s lab and results will be announced in the summer. Last year, Garbelotto's SOD testing program made the front page of the Sunday Chronicle: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/10/02/MNG71L9OAK.DTL
