Virgin America Expands Bay Area Flights

Starting Tuesday, the Burlingame-based airline offers flights from San Jose to Los Angeles starting at $49.

Burlingame-based Virgin America is expanding its service Tuesday, offering flights from San Jose to Los Angeles that start at $49.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday for four daily roundtrip flights from Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) to  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Service begins May 1.

Virgin America, which first launched service out of San Francisco International Airport (SFO), in 2007, has been deemed as the “Best U.S. Airline” in both Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards every year since its launch. Service is marked by cushy seats, a comprehensive entertainment system and wi-fi on board.

“The addition of flight service to SJC will expand the airline’s presence in the greater Bay Area and bring new competition and economic growth to the region,” wrote Virgin American spokesperson Tawny Valentine in an email.

The first departure from LAX to SJC will leave at 7 a.m., with the last flight at 8:45 p.m. The first departure from SJC to LAX will leave at 6:35 a.m., with the last departure at 6:50 p.m.

Yes, we are well aware of this & can not believe the Burlingame district is proceeding with theRead More plans for this school. The footprint of the school does not allow for safe drop off and pick up. I have seen a couple of different plans for the drop off line & none of them are adequate for the location. The traffic will surely be a nightmare & I hope we are not moved to this school, as there is not proper access for drop off. Also, not sure why the plans keep changing, maybe because they can not come up with a good plan.
