On Sunday, September 29, artists of all ages and skills will descend upon Burlingame with easels and art supplies. “Paint Burlingame” invites everyone to pick up a paintbrush, pencil, pastel, or even a crayon and render a Burlingame scene. The painting event will take place all day until 3pm. Artists will show and sell their finished artwork at the former Malouf’s Clothiers on Burlingame Avenue. There will be an exhibit and reception with cash prizes for winning entries in multiple categories from 4:00 – 6pm.

There is a small, $25 entry fee to participate. In addition to a display of the artwork, there will be a raffle for art, including a limited edition fine art print of the “Paint Burlingame” poster. Artwork will be judged and prizes will be awarded to winners in multiple categories. Some paintings will be available for purchase. Entry forms can be found at www.paintburlingame.wordpress.com

“It seems this event has become an annual tradition. We are I our fourth year. A day of artists working and art lovers watching and then of course, buying,” said Russ Cohen, vice president of the Burlingame Historical Society.

“Paint Burlingame is a wonderful opportunity for my students to be a part of the larger Burlingame art community,” said Nancy Call Torres of Art Attack Studio in Burlingame.

“We’re proud to sponsor an event that encourages and celebrates the arts in Burlingame,” said Janet Martin of the Studio Shop, one of the event sponsors.

“That’s the fun of it, all skill levels and ages are welcomed,” added Cohen. “Not only will you see some wonderful works of art documenting today’s Burlingame, 10% of sales benefit the Burlingame Historical Society to help run the museum inside the Burlingame Train Station as well as many of the other society programs,” added Cohen.

The awards reception and auction will feature food from Burlingame local eateries including Blue Line Pizza, The Cakery, Sapore Italiano, Alana Café and more. Other sponsors include Art Attack, The Studio Shop, The Burlingamer, University Art and more.
