You receive Free Comprehensive Training on topics such as: Communication and Active Listening Skills, Basics of Counseling, Working with Diverse Cultures, Social and Family Relationships, Understanding Social Isolation, Working with Grief and Loss, Common Health Issues of Older Adults, Taking Care of Yourself, How to Recognize and Respond to Depression and Anxiety

Professional Supervision and Continuing Education

You must have an interest in working with older adults, be a good listener, be caring and compassionate, be at least 55 years old, have transportation, be able to volunteer 1+ hours a week, attend two 3 hour training sessions a week for 9 weeks, and meet with fellow volunteers twice a month
