Hillsborough Burglar Facing Third Strike

Trial date set for Javon Wright, who is accused of robbing several homes in the area and leading police on a high-speed chase.

The man allegedly responsible for a series of burglaries in Hillsborough could be facing a third strike if convicted on all charges.

Javon Thomas Wright is set to stand trial on August 19 in San Mateo County Superior Court. Wright, already on probation for burglaries in Alameda and Santa Clara counties, was arrested by Hillsborough Police on Oct. 3, 2012. Wright passed on an offer from District Attorney's office and waived his right to a speedy trial.

Wright reportedly knocked on the front doors at several homes on Hayne Road and Denise Drive. When residents answered the door, he acted surprised and asked for "Joshua," then left in a silver Toyota. Police Chief Mark O'Connor saw Wright walking toward a silver Toyota and approached him, at which point Wright led police on a chase that neared 100 mph on the freeway. Wright eventually hit a blue truck and tried to flee on foot, but was taken into custody. A search of the car found disposable gloves and a metal lever jack.
